So I have got over my little crisis and I have come back down to reality with a bang. But it will still be a great day. We have made up a guest list decided who is coming to the ceremony, found a venue, and made a to do list. We are going to the register tomorrow so I will be able to get a definite date and then I can start handing out invitations and get a definite number of people so I can book the venue. Wednesday me and my grandmother are going to a baker and hopefully be able to get a cake. Flowers are being done by an aunt, my parents have offered to buy the dress so should have a lot of it sorted soon thank god.
In Mullingar Joe Dolans statue has been unveiled after the official Joe Dolan weekend. The main man Brian Cowen even unveiled the statue. But what really appealed me was the scam that surrounded the whole thing. The tree that goes up every year was suddenly a remembrance tree where you could pay to have a note written by you put on it. There was a Joe Dolan tour of Mullingar which is basically a tour of Mullingar. Even the taxi’s were doing it. Mike Dolan has a taxi service known as Mike’s Taxi’s but he changed to Dolan’s at the weekend. I think it is great that 5000 people came and honoured him but it really shows you just how much the town will do for money.
Big big news is the cancer pork scare and now the papers are reporting that cows are also being checked. I did always prefer chickens. Went into Tesco’s just to get a few bits for some sandwiches maybe some chicken or something. Got to the aisle and I all I could see was white. There was nothing not even chicken. Well there was stuff like salami and pepperoni but that was about it. Managed to find some corned beef though so that shall have to do him. Here’s a little something I noticed. When I heard I was watching the BBC and they said that there was nothing to worry about as only 8% of pork was imported from Ireland and that it was mostly the Republics problem. Turned over to RTE and here they were saying ” of course this is not just a problem here we go to our European correspondant”. So don’t watch 2 different news channels it’s very very confusing. Another thing if it isn’t that dangerous in small quantities well then why such a big fuss. I understand that it’s cancerous and a danger to your health but like they were saying if you only have the likes of sausages and rashers once or twice a week well then you should be fine. I wish people would stop thinking of their xmas ham and start thinking about the pork industry. With our econamy as bad as it is this is spelling bad news especially if it is found in beef as well. Here’s hoping that it will all pass quickly without to much damage done.
So as I finish up I would like to apologize for the late entry and warn you that tomorrow will be another late one. Also thanks to Andre Ventor for his very informative comment on the new Dublin waste disposal unit. I will post it publicly on my blog.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings.
